Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle has been bringing our favorite DBZ characters to mobile devices since the Japanese release in January 2015, with the Global version following suit in July. Each year, Dokkan's pool of its rarest units — LRs — continues to swell with overwhelmingly powerful beings.

Anniversary Celebrations typically bring a set of powerful LRs to shake up both the meta-game and your wallet. These Anniversary Units are some of the very best in the game, with equally powerful units seldom being released outside major celebrations. 2022's Anniversary provides some new toys for you to add to your growing roster of Super Saiyans, supreme gods, and dangerous villains.
10 TEQ [Merciless Awakening] Goku Black And Zamasu
Also known as "Rosemasu", this intimidating duo enjoyed serious limelight upon release and burst back onto the scene when they received their Extreme-Z Awakening (EZA) in July 2022. With their EZA, Rosemasu gained much-needed survivability via their passive, catapulting them back into the stratosphere of the best units in the game.
Their "Zero Mortals Plan" passive skill guards attacks for three turns, and bestows a 50 percent increase to defense (DEF), plus an additional 30 percent to attack (ATK) and DEF for each attack received. With this upgrade, "Rosemasu" evolved from a one-dimensional glass cannon to a well-rounded powerhouse suited for Extreme, TEQ, or Future Saga teams.
9 AGL [Roar of Resentment] Frieza (Full Power)
Upon release, Frieza left many Dokkan players disappointed — not falling short of expectations, but rather exceeding them when he debuted shortly after Global's 6th Anniversary (where most players had spent their Dragon Stones). If you were lucky enough to summon Frieza, you were rewarded with a powerhouse, boasting 22,775 HP, 20,785 ATK, and 14,206 DEF at rainbow (fully upgraded).

Frieza shines due to a 170 percent Leader Skill and a passive with excellent boosts, including massive stat buffs and stacking Ki Spheres each turn. He even possesses the coveted Big Bad Bosses Link Skill, which bestows a 25 percent ATK and DEF bonus at level ten, ensuring that he is ready to pivot from defense to offense.
8 AGL [True Ultra Instinct] Goku
The headliner of Dokkan's sixth Anniversary, UI Goku is a defensive, evasive tank capable of avoiding damage entirely with his 70 percent chance to dodge. After each dodge, Goku gains an additional Ki Sphere, pushing his ATK higher and potentially triggering his Ultra Super Attack if you were missing a few Ki.
On the off chance that Goku, or more likely, his teammate, is KO'ed, he can revive with 70 percent health if certain conditions are met, making him a great safety net, especially when combined with Master Roshi on "Representatives of Universe 7" teams.
7 PHY [Fused Fighting Force] Super Saiyan Goku (Angel) And Super Saiyan Vegeta (Angel)
The PHY Angels represent half of Dokkan's Third Anniversary pairs that have been rejuvenated by their EZA, pulling them into this decade with a modern Leader Skill few units can boast: a 180 percent HP, ATK, and DEF boost to "Fusion" category units.
When HP drops below 50 percent from turn six onward, the Angels can fuse into Gogeta, one of the strongest characters in Dokkan and across the series. Their fusion fully recovers HP, grants a 150 percent ATK and DEF increase, and makes attacks effective against all types, essentially the same as a guaranteed critical hit. You won't have any trouble hitting for maximum damage, as Super Gogeta gains an additional three Ki for each Rainbow Ki Sphere obtained.
6 INT [Fused Super Power] Super Saiyan Goku And Super Saiyan Vegeta
The other half of the Third Year Anniversary's dynamic duo gives Super Gogeta a run for his money, as Super Vegito's Leader Skill offers even more utility. Super Vegito gives "Potara" category units a 180 percent omni-buff and also offers three Ki and 120 percent boost to all INT units, which can prove extremely useful in modes like Ultimate Clash where you will need monotype teams to win.
Similar to Super Gogeta, Super Vegito heals all HP upon fusion but gains 200 percent ATK and DEF instead of the 150 percent its counterpart receives. In addition, Super Vegito counters each normal attack it receives, making him an excellent unit to absorb attacks. Combine these attributes with a 15 percent damage reduction (DR) from the fourth turn onward, and you have an extremely potent all-around unit.
5 STR [Unrivaled Saiyan Peak] Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta
Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta returns to the spotlight due to an extremely powerful EZA and the release of impressive teammates that pair with this Fourth Anniversary Unit. Vegeta boasts another 180 percent Leader Skill covering the "Vegeta's Family" category, which is packed with powerful Vegeta and Trunks units.
Vegeta's passive also includes a 30 percent chance to evade and counter enemy super attacks, rolling some of the best qualities of other units into one potent package. In addition, Vegeta stacks ATK and DEF just for appearing each turn, ensuring that his power grows as the battle wanes into its dying stages.
4 AGL [Apex of Supreme Saiyan Power] Super Saiyan 4 Goku
Unsurprisingly, Vegeta's counterpart, Goku, packs a similarly powerful punch of his own. Their Leader Skills are identical, with Goku's substituting "Goku's Family" for his category, which edges out Vegeta's version due to some very powerful Gohan units in addition to the top-notch Goku options.

The other major difference between Vegeta and Goku is their stacking capabilities, as Vegeta stacks ATK and DEF up to 30 and 60 percent respectively, while Goku only stacks ATK up to 60 percent, making him the slightly more offensive unit. Goku's offensive prowess and the defensive options available give this unit a slight edge over his eternal rival.
3 TEQ [Divine Warriors With Infinite Power] Super Saiyan God Goku And Super Saiyan God Vegeta
Fresh from the Seventh Anniversary, the TEQ Super Saiyan Gods live up to their name in every way — from their dynamic combinations to their divine presence. Goku and Vegeta provide three Ki and 170 percent to ATK, DEF, and HP, for "Movie Heroes" or "Power Beyond Super Saiyan" units, plus an additional 30 percent to those who also belong to the "Kamehameha" category.
This paved the way for a massive shift in the landscape of Dokkan, beginning a major power creep and introducing a new level of difficulty via the hardcore endgame mode, Red Zone. You know a unit is truly game-changing when the developers must produce harder content to coincide with its release.
2 PHY [Saiyan Warriors With Ultimate Power] Super Saiyan 4 Goku And Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta
Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta and Goku were released alongside the TEQ Super Saiyan Gods to usher in Dokkan's new era of powerful units. Their Leader Skill is an exact copy of their TEQ peers, except it serves "GT Heroes" and "Fused Fighter" units as its main two categories.
Unlike the Third Anniversary fusions, Goku and Vegeta can fuse into Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta from the start of the fourth turn, allowing them to stack DEF before unleashing their immense offensive power post-fusion. The debate between TEQ Gods and PHY Super Saiyan 4s will rage on, but both units maintain unique situational uses and function the best together.
1 INT [The Power Of Pride And Hope] Super Saiyan God SS Vegeta And Super Saiyan Trunks
Just as Frieza broke the hearts and wallets of those who went all in on the Sixth Anniversary, Vegeta and Trunks do the same for Dokkan players who spent it all on the Seventh annual celebration. Vegeta and Trunks' Leader Skill provides 170 percent HP, ATK, and DEF to "Bond of Parent and Child" as well as "Future Saga" categories, and an additional 30 percent to "Battle of Fates" units.
While the Seventh Anniversary units set the new standard for raw power and rigid defense, Vegeta and Trunks smash that baseline with incredible ATK, and simply transcendent tanking prowess as their DEF routinely exceeds 500,000 and can approach 1,000,000 on the right teams with proper setup. In endgame content like Red Zone, survivability is paramount, and nobody does it better than this dominant father-son duo.
