The acting Governing Council of ACOR has approved this Wednesday the convocation of the Extraordinary General Assembly for the renewal of the social bodies of the cooperative that will be held on September 10 at the Olmedo Oil Plant (Valladolid).
With the choice of this date, the Governing Council seeks to “give priority to the interests of the cooperative” and combine them with “the best moment” to facilitate the participation of the members, taking into account the usual tasks in the field during the months of summer , as indicated in a statement.
As the same sources recall, the procedure for calling elections in the middle of a mandate requires, among other terms and requirements, the voluntary resignation of all members of the corporate bodies, which happened on June 30.
The acting president of ACOR, Justino Medrano, has once again thanked the “commitment” of all the members for their voluntary resignation by “putting the general interests before the individuals in this way” and “thus giving the floor to the cooperative members.”
In the coming days, the members of the sugar cooperative will be informed by letter of the formal convocation of the assembly. Among other security measures against COVID-19, the voting hours will be extended between 8.30 a.m. and 5 p.m., longer than usual, to avoid crowds .
On the other hand, the Governing Council has made a brief balance of the results of the financial year 2020-21 that, although it is not formally closed, marks “a clear positive trend” only with cooperative activity and “despite coinciding with the period most complicated of the pandemic. “
